Murray's Sweet 16

February 2, 2018
When we made the journey to Knoxville, TN in December of 2009, we had no idea what we were in for. The Boston Terrier Rescue had been saving a dog for us – Paddington Murray – who they were sure our other Boston, Annie, would like. We walked into the rescuer's home and this dog ran up to us like we were old pals. It was instant. Decision made, he was coming home with us and we'd shorten his name to Murray. Annie warmed up to the idea within a day or two.
Murray knows no human enemies. Everyone he meets is an old friend. In his younger years, he had a certain affinity for feet but we don't hold that against him. I'm pretty sure his favorite person in the whole world is my niece, Sarah and he has trained our vets to keep a constant stream of Cheez Whiz flowing for every procedure.
When I brought Ollie home (our third Boston) he wasn't too impressed. Eventually though, he accepted Ollie's good looks and endless energy with grace. Now they snuggle together on the couch on cold days and travel well on all of our adventures.
Today is his 16th birthday. We will celebrate with dog-friendly ice cream and squirt cream, couch snuggles and an adventure around the neighborhood at whatever pace he'd like. Here are some of my favorite photos of my little buddy. For more, check out The Bostons project gallery.
