#TravelsWithOllie: August Group Hike

August 28, 2018
I'm a little late posting this blog. I guess since Murray passed away, I haven't felt much like writing. Or doing anything extra. I've gone through the motions of what needs to be done but the energy needed to do much more has been absent. I'm getting there but it's been a little slow going...
The one extra thing I'm doing this year is the #TravelsWithOllie hikes. Started on a whim, I have planned a hike every month this year. Each one brings together new faces and on new trails. We've had anywhere between 3 and 20 people show up, with January being the fewest and July being the most (weather being crucial to attendance of course). Some people are seasoned hikers and others are out for their very first one. All are welcome.
On a steamy Sunday in early August, we headed out on the 8th hike – to the Billy Goat C trail along the Potomac River. Flooding in the area made for some muddy spots and a tricky water crossing but the 1.7 mile trail was a nice easy one for such a warm morning. We ended in the parking lot with Peanut Butter Pup Pops straight from my kitchen, they were a hit.
Thanks to everyone who has joined me on this little experiment. I've so enjoyed meeting you and look forward to hitting a trail again with you soon.
Our next hike is September 9th in Shenandoah National park. Learn more and sign up here.
